just some Cas preening by the moonlight.

I like to imagine this scenario:

maybe some AU or episode where Cas meets John, who makes some rude comment about Cas wings.

He may say something along the lines of… “So do all angels have dark, dirty wings like yours? Or do they take more time into keeping themselves decent?”

to which Cas promptly and silently removes himself, because no critique on his physical appearance hurts more than when they’re directed at his wings… the only true part of himself, exposed and on display.

And maybe they are dark and dirty? Big, clunky, and unkempt? So he runs his fingers through his feathers, trying to straighten them out to no avail. He thinks to himself that his vessel may be conventionally attractive, but any part of himself will always be ugly and messy.

But then I like to imagine…..

Dean telling off his father for his rude and insensitive comment, because “that’s my best friend and I will not tolerate you speaking to him like that.”

He then follows Cas into the room he closed himself off in. Cas shyly tucks his wings behind him, wanting to hide away his unattractive appendages.

Dean says something sappy and sweet, tripping over his words. Something dumb like “I think they’re badass, Cas.”

and he then asks if he can touch them. ‘Cause wings are cool. Cas blushes. At least Dean appreciates his wings, something so personal to him.
